Schools and Jobs.

Schools:
  • Schools often include cultural goals such as the writing of a new history of Turkmenistan and the implementation of alphabet reform in schools.
  • Although electives are scarce, the curriculum for the ninth and tenth grades focus more on language and literature. History, physics, mathematics, Turkmen or Russian language, and chemistry are also common courses.
  • Turkmenistan's school system suffers from a shortage of qualified teachers along with inadequate textbooks, serious shortages of supplies and low salaries.
  • Turkmen is the "state language" and English as the "second state language," so it has become important for all students to learn these two languages.
  • When he was in office, Saparmurat Niyazov, cut down the education for a year to get rid of the "study abroad" option for schools.
